Schloß Schönbrunn Suite

On the outskirts of Vienna sits one of the most impressive Baroque palaces to have ever been built. Built in the 17th century, it was here that the Emperor Franz Joseph was born in 1830, here in 1772 that child prodigy Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart gave his first concert at just six year’s old, and here that Emperor Charles I signed his abdication of the crown in 1918, putting an end to the Hasburg’s rule and the Austrian monarchy.

Walking through this magnificent estate you’ll marvel at the Room of Millions, panelled with rosewood and decorated from floor to ceiling with Indian and Persian miniatures, be dazzled by the Hall of Mirrors and fall in love with the exquisite beauty of the Blue Chinese Salon.

Awake in the morning to breakfast in your suite or on Sundays, in the sophisticated Gloriette Café located on site. Housed in a majestic looking building, it offers a special brunch featuring delicious Viennese pastries accompanied by live music ranging in style from classical to jazz. Don’t forget to head up to the 20-metre high observation terrace for spectacular vistas over Vienna when you’ve finished.

Spend your days as the Hasburg family once would have, strolling around the palace’s park and gardens and trying to find your way around the magnificent Schönbrunn maze. As you make your way around, be sure to keep your eyes peeled for the 12 signs of the zodiac hiding along the hedgerows. When you’ve had your fill of getting lost, head over the Palm House, the largest of its kind in Europe. Built in 1882 it’s made from 45,00 panes of glass and is divided into three climate zones, showcasing thousands of plants from all over the world.

Of course, the historic centre of Vienna is located just a few minutes away, waiting to be explored whenever you wish. Dine in the famous Viennese coffee houses, browse the halls of the magnificent museums and galleries, hear amazing compositions at the opera houses and peruse the streets of the Golden Quarter with its lavish shops and boutiques.

In the evenings, dine like the legendary Empress Sisi, wife of Emperor Ferdinand II who reigned in the palace from 1848 to 1916, by requesting the services of your own personal butler and in-suite chef. After all, royals would expect nothing less than white-gloved service.
