Five Boutique Hotel Paris Quartier Latin

A romantic boutique hotel in Paris's lively Latin Quarter

By Ella Klyachitsky, VeryChic correspondent
The Latin Quarter has to be one of my favourite areas of Paris - nowhere else feels so vibrant and exciting. This is something my hubby knows well, and for our anniversary he got all romantic and surprised me with a weekend at a boutique hotel in the 'Fifth', the heart of the Latin Quarter. With contemporary design features and brave and imaginative décor, this is a place where the essence of bohemian and creative Paris is distilled.

  • Au Lapin Agile is a little cabaret theatre and bar in Montmartre. It was frequented by Picasso and Matisse and features some of their artworks. It looks like it hasn't changed much since then, but that's a good thing. www.au-lapin-agile.com/anglais/home.htm
  • The Shakespeare and Company Bookstore is everything a second hand book shop should be. It has ties to the literati of Paris and a habit of helping up-and-coming writers. 37 rue de la Bucherie, 75005, Paris, France.
  • Saint Germain-des-Pres may not be a patch on nearby Notre Dame, but by virtue of being the oldest abbey in Paris it's worth a visit. It also happens to be the final resting place of René Descartes. 3 Place Saint-Germain des Prés, 75006 Paris, France.
  • Rue Mouffetard is one of the most emblematic shopping streets in the fifth arrondissement. Hemingway called it a ''wonderful, narrow crowded market street' and it still is. The markets are when it comes alive the most, but on the days when the stalls aren't selling their wares the charming buildings that line it still are. You'll find some of the best produce in Paris here. Rue Mouffetard, 5th arrondissement, Paris, France. Métro: Cardinal-Lemoine or Place Monge.
