The Astor Saint-Honoré **** Hotel sits in the heart of the very chic 8th arrondissement in Paris, between the Boulevard Malesherbes and the Boulevard Haussman.

BY PLANE

  • Paris has three main airports: Paris Charles de Gaulle and Paris Orly along with the low-cost airport Paris Beauvais, located a little further out of the city.

    - From the UK: British Airways, Air France, CityJet and EasyJet all operate direct flights out of London. EasyJet also fly direct from Bristol, Belfast, Edinburgh and Glasgow while Ryanair fly direct from Manchester and Flybe from Birmingham.

    - From Ireland: Flying from Dublin, direct flights are operated by Aer Lingus, Air France and Ryanair. Aer Lingus also fly from Cork, while Ryanair also fly direct from Shannon.

    - From Germany: Airlines flying direct from Berlin include: Lufthansa, Air Berlin, Air France, EasyJet and Germanwings. Air France and Germanwings also fly direct from Hamburg and Dusseldorf while Lufthansa also fly direct out of Frankfurt and Munich.

    - From the Netherlands: Air France and KLM both provide direct flights out of Amsterdam.

    - From Sweden, Denmark, Norway and Finland: SAS, Air France, KLM and Norwegian all fly direct from Stockholm in Sweden, Oslo in Norway and Copenhagen in Denmark. Low-cost airline Ryanair also fly out of Stockholm and Oslo while low-cost Easyjet also fly from Copenhagen. Finnair and Norwegian fly direct from Helsinki, Finland.

    - From France: Air France operate shuttle flights from most major cities to Paris, including: Strasbourg, Lyon, Bordeaux, Toulouse, Biarritz, Marseille and Nice.

HOW TO GET FROM THE AIRPORT TO THE HOTEL

  • From Paris Charles de Gaulle airport:
    - By Airport Transfer Service: provided by the hotel for a surcharge.

    - By taxi: They are easily found outside each terminal, make sure to take an officially licensed taxi from the taxi rank. Fares vary considerably depending on traffic, but expect to pay anywhere between 50€ to 65€ (around £37 -£47).

    - By train: This is generally the most cost-efficient method. The airport is connected to the city via Line B of the RER; take the train to Châtelet Les Halles, and switch to the metro system, taking line M4 (purple) for 3 stops to Strasbourg - Saint-Denis. From Strasbourg - Saint-Denis, take the M9 (lime green) to Saint-Augustin. Tickets are 9,75€ or 6,85€ (between £7 - £6) for children (ages 4- 9).

    - By Bus: The Roissybus runs directly to Opéra in central Paris, tickets cost around 10€ (around £7). Once at Opéra either take a taxi, metro or RER to the hotel. Travelling by RER you will need line A from the Opéra station, getting off at Charles de Gaulle - Etoile.

    Alternatively, Cars Air France run buses directly to Arc de Triomphe/ Charles de Gaulle - Etoile. However these are far more expensive, at around 20€ (around £17) per person.

    From Paris Orly airport:
    - By Airport Transfer Service: provided by the hotel for a surcharge.

    - By taxi: They are easily found outside each terminal, make sure to take an officially licensed taxi from the taxi rank. Fares vary considerably depending on traffic, but expect to pay anywhere between 30€ to 40€ (around £20 - £29).

    - By train: The airport is connected to RER line B via the bus service ORLYVAL. The bus will drop you off at the RER station Anthony. You can take the RER to Châtelet Les Halles, switch to the metro, and take line M4 (purple) for 3 stops to Strasbourg - Saint-Denis. From Strasbourg - Saint-Denis, take the M9 (lime green) to Saint-Augustin. The combined journey costs around 11.65€ and 5.80€ (between £8 - £4) for children (ages 4 - 10).

    From Paris-Beauvais airport:
    - By Airport Transfer Service: provided by the hotel for a surcharge.

    - By train: Take a taxi (around 11€/£8) or shuttle bus (around 4€/£3 per person) to Beauvais station, from there take the TER line 19 to Paris Gare du Nord. Then take the RER line B to Châtelet Les Halles followed by metro line M4 (purple) for 3 stops to Strasbourg - Saint-Denis. From Strasbourg - Saint-Denis, take the M9 (lime green) to Saint-Augustin.

    - By bus: There is a shuttle bus operating between the airport and Porte Maillot in the city centre. From there take the metro line M4 (purple) for 3 stops to Strasbourg - Saint-Denis. From Strasbourg - Saint-Denis, take the M9 (lime green) to Saint-Augustin.

    From the Saint-Augustin stop and take exit  2 for Boulevard Haussman from the metro. Head west on Boulevard Haussmann and continue onto Place Saint-Augustin. Once there, turn left onto Rue d'Astorg (2nd left) and go straight down Rue d'Astorg. You will pass 2 streets and the hotel will be on the right.

BY TRAIN

  • Most international trains arrive at either Paris Gare du Nord or Paris de l’Est. From Gare du Nord and Gare de l’Est, take the M4 in the direction of Mairie de Montrouge. At the Strasbourg - Saint-Denis stop take the M9 (lime green) to Saint-Augustin. From this metro stop it is just a 5 minute walk down Avenue Marceau.

    From the UK: The train company Eurostar operate trains from London St. Pancras International train station to Paris Gare du Nord.

    From Germany: Trains can terminate at either Paris Gare du Nord or Paris de l’Est. Direct trains can be found from several major cities including Frankfurt, Cologne and Dusseldorf. High-speed train company Thalys operate fast trains from Dusseldorf and Cologne.

    From the Netherlands: High-speed train company Thalys, also run direct trains from Amsterdam and Rotterdam, also to Paris Gare du Nord.

    From France: The French TGV operate fast trains from all over France.

BY METRO

  • The nearest metro is the Strasbourg - Saint-Denis stop served by line M9 (lime green). It is a 5 minute walk to the hotel.

    Take exit 2 for Boulevard Haussman from the metro. Head west on Boulevard Haussmann and continue onto Place Saint-Augustin. Once there, turn left onto Rue d'Astorg (2nd left) and go straight down Rue d'Astorg. You will pass 2 streets and the hotel will be on the right.
