Audleys Wood ★★★★

Live the period drama dream at this decadent historic manor

By Melanie Webb, VeryChic correspondent
I love watching period dramas, I enjoy the intricate storylines, the beautiful dresses and suits, the witty well-written speech that somehow speaks truth that still relates to our modern day, but most of all I love the setting. I adore the surrounding greenery and the elaborate historic mansions and manors. This is why I was delighted to be travelling to Audleys Wood, built in 1880, residence of the Simonds from 1900, then home of The Telegraph’s editor during WW2, in an environment that perfectly captures that classic period drama setting.
