Buddha-Bar Hotel Budapest Klotild Palace ★★★★★

Oriental-inspired hotel in the trendy 5th District.

Remarkable

By Lizzie Davey, VeryChic correspondent
Fusing a war-torn past with a vibrant, contemporary culture, Budapest is a city with many layers. Known as the ‘Paris of the East’, it boasts a concoction of stylish cafes, restaurants, and bars, grandiose monuments and buildings, and an intriguing narrative that sprawls throughout the Art Deco streets. Ruin Bars pop up in abandoned buildings, whilst residents old and young still enjoy a bathe in the traditional hot springs that the city is famous for. Budapest, it seems, is a combination of many different worlds. It was in the eclectic 5th District of the city that I checked into the Buddha-Bar Hotel Budapest Klotild Palace, an exhibit of Oriental design and deep, rich décor – the gateway to faraway lands.

Chic idea: to make the most of your time in Budapest, book your tickets in advance for a wide range of activities, here.

Buddha-Bar Hotel Budapest Klotild Palace ***** sits on the corner of Váci utca, Budapest's number one pedestrian shopping street. It is ideally located walking distance from the city's major attractions, the best shopping and entertainment areas.

BY PLANE

  • Budapest is served by the Budapest Ferenc Liszt International Airport (BUD), formally called and still referred to unofficially as Budapest Ferihegy International Airport. It is located around 21km/ 13 mi southeast of the city centre and the hotel, and receives flights from many capitals and major cities across Europe.

HOW TO GET FROM THE AIRPORT TO THE HOTEL

  • - By taxi: this is probably the quickest and most convenient way to get to the hotel. The ride takes around 20 minutes and costs between 21€ and 26€ (£16- £19). It is recommended to agree on a price with the driver before leaving.

    - Minibus: Inside the arrival hall at the airport, a mini shuttle service can be organized (aprox. 10€/£7 per person).

    - Public transport: From the airport, take bus line 200E to Kőbánya-Kispest M (20 minutes). Then, switch to the metro taking line M3 (blue line) to Ferenciek tere (15 minutes). These two rides will cost around 2€ in total. From the metro station, turn right walking up Duna U., take a left onto Perófi Sándor u., and immediately left onto Kossuth Lajos u. Walk down Kigyó, the hotel will be on  your left (it is just a 2 minute walk).

    - By car: From each highway follow signs towards the city center or 'Centrum' and merge onto Route 4. Stay on that road and continue onto Üllői út/Route 4. Turn right onto Baross u., then right again onto Múzeum u., left onto Pollack Mihály tér and left again onto Rákóczi út. Continue straight and turn right onto Váci u., the hotel will be on your right. Also note that there is zero alcohol tolerance for drivers.
