Hotel Merici ★★★★

An old Ursuline boarding school with a stylish and luxurious twist at the heart of a delightful historic town.

By Edward Fairbairn, VeryChic correspondent
A spectacular mix of old and new, the Hotel Merici has taken a beautiful and traditional old building and given it a modern makeover. The building, one of seven historic monuments in Sittard’s Cloister Quarter, was once an Ursuline boarding school for girls and retains its spiritual atmosphere, as well as some gorgeous original architectural details. With stunning guest rooms and an excellent restaurant just along the road, this is the perfect gateway to discover the charming town of Sittard, while the lively cities of Maastricht and Aachen (over the German border) are within easy reach.
