Art Nouveau Palace Hotel ★★★★★

I have visited some of the most famously romantic cities in the world, but never Prague. Less obvious for some, but no less alluringly beautiful with its dreaming spires and princely towers, ancient streets and sloping roofs. I am instantly transported into another world as I feel Prague's rich story waltzing around me. Buzzing with its history of dramatic changes, it’s brimming over with the desire to express and tell its story, invent its future and change again! Prague isn't just a pretty face, it has something to say.

Nevertheless it is a pretty face and one which is beautifully adorned by Art Nouveau Palace Hotel *****. As I arrive my breath is taken away. No less impressive inside, Art Nouveau décor dazzles you with its regal elegance, rich colour and old-world imperial charm. I am wowed again as I reach my room, which is more like a palace suite. The colours match the brightly painted rooftops outside my window and the enormous royal bed begs for you to dive onto it and roll around.

The luxury doesn't end there, apart from its own espresso machine, the Italian Carrara marble bathroom is not easily outdone, and when you add to this the immaculate service, you begin to feel a little like royalty yourself. It's not hard to see how so many famous visitors have all been drawn to stay here; including: Henry Kissinger, The Rolling Stones, Uma Thurman and Bobby Charlton.

That evening I dined in the hotel restaurant, The Gourmet Club, considered one of the finest in Prague and which has hosted the likes of Bob Dylan and Louis Armstrong. With its warm, dim lighting, open fireplace flanked by statues and the live piano playing softly in the background, I felt that every couple there must be about to propose! I almost proposed to the chef myself as I tasted the traditional Czech duck confit with baked cabbage and homemade potato dumpling wrapped in fried breadcrumbs and Viennese onions! I had a lovely time and made a mental note to bring my significant other here with me next time. This is a lover's paradise.

Art Nouveau Palace Hotel ***** is truly exceptional, with top-class service and facilities deserving every one of its five stars. The bitterness of leaving was sweetened by the hotel's arrangement for a Mercedes Benz Limousine to take me to the airport. If you must leave, leave in true style. See you soon, Prague, I’ll be back!
