Pullman Bangkok Hotel G ★★★★★

“Some inspiration is what I need,” I murmured, wandering aimlessly about the house. “We need a holiday, but where…?”, my thoughts trailed off as my husband looked at me, I could tell by the light behind his green eyes that he already had an idea. In fact, I knew what that idea was. He’d been mentioning it for a while now in some sort of subliminal repetition, so that when I thought of our next holiday destination, I would think that the idea to go to Thailand was entirely mine.

Well, I can tell you one thing: It worked. My husband’s fantasy of travelling to the land of many an action-packed thriller came true. It’s easy to see why a writer or director might pick such a backdrop for his latest creation. From impressive skyscrapers to languishing smooth beaches, Thailand has it all. We would move onto the beaches later on, but our first stop was the bubbling Bangkok, with our Deluxe Room situated on the 20th floor. I could feel the excitement building as we zoomed up to our room in the lift and the first thing I noticed once we’d flung open the door was the inevitably astonishing view, equally impressive in the daytime as it was at night, when the city lights created a sense of thrilling beauty.

Our room was light and airy thanks to the rather large windows and white colour scheme. The bed was a kingsized and included in the room were all the amenities we could need, such as a docking station, television and, of course, the all important Wi-Fi. The bathroom was pristine and surprisingly spacious, complete with a bath should we want to soak and relax.

Although the room did impress, the Pullman did not stop there. On the 37th floor – yes the building stretches up that far – it boasts an exquisite bar and restaurant, the Scarlett. Dressed in warm tones and framed by large windows that overlook the city, the Scarlett is more than romantic! Choose your favourite wine and partner it with cheese and cold meats for the ultimate end to an evening. When my husband and I decided to go for a more full-on dining experience, we chose the Mistral, which serves an excellent buffet at both breakfast and lunch, surrounded by unique décor and design. There was also the 25 degrees Burger Bar, serving the familiar dish, yet so excellently done.

With so much so close to hand, we need not worry about finding a place to eat every night! It was a welcome change to return from a busy day’s sightseeing to relax at the hotel. The spa also played a large part in this, with its treatments, sauna, Jacuzzi and of course the pool, which overlooks the city. Our stay at the Pullman meant we could experience the adventure of the city without the tiring after-effects, leaving us refreshed and able to make the most of our trip. Then it was onto some hard-core relaxation: the beach!
