The 8 Downtown Suites

Housed in a beautifully restored 18th century building, The 8 Downtown Suites is a modern hotel, located right in the very heart of the historic down-town area, yet tucked away on a pleasantly quiet street. Here, the clean and modern décor displays a contemporary style, without being overly pretentious. The same applies to the cosy rooms, which conjure up images of a trendy New York loft. This is certainly a comfortable and bright space, showcasing minimalist art in its décor. On the first floor, a charming little coffee lounge invites you to sit and read a magazine and to use the free Wi-Fi to keep in contact with the rest of the world. This little coffee buffet offers a homely environment and good range of complimentary coffees, teas, fruits and biscuits; certainly a nice touch.

The friendly staff will point you in the right direction for a wealth of things to do in Lisbon, most of which is wonderfully close to the hotel. In the afternoon, you can stroll around to get a feel for the city. Meander through the shopping area of the Avenida da Liberdade for a couple of hours before making your way to the pulsing Bairro Alto area, home to all of Lisbon’s best bars and restaurants.

Sao Jorge, the iconic castle, is also only a 10-minute walk away. Sitting high above the old town, it offers spectacular panoramic views of the city. If you are feeling sprightly, you can enjoy the brisk walk up, or alternatively, you can always get the tram. Like with a lot of city breaks, you will be spoilt for choice when it comes to things to do.
