Thalasso Concarneau Spa Marin Resort ★★★★

A relaxing stay in a brand new hotel.

Very good

Brittany is abundant with rugged coastlines, medieval towns, thick forests and little-known towns that make excursions here well worth the detour from the beaten track. It’s characterised by proud tradition and culinary cuisine, namely its delicious crepes and homemade cider. Best known for its fortified town, Concarneau is a ‘town of art and history’ best known for its fortified town. It is difficult not to fall for this idyllic part of the world, and there is no better way to succumb to its charms than by staying at the Thalasso Concarneau Spa Marin Resort.

  • The walled town, fortified in the 14th century and modified by the architect Vauban two centuries later, huddles on a small island. Look out for the citadel’s clock tower, the Maison du Gouverneur and the numerous stone houses converted into shops, crêperies, ice cream parlours and galleries.
  • The Musée de la Pêche delves into Concarneau’s seafaring traditions using everything from archive film to scale models and vintage boats. You can even clamber aboard the museum’s fishing vessel, permanently docked outside the city walls.
