The Weinmeister ★★★★ - Adults Only

Berlin is a city that hasn’t had it easy. But even during some of the darkest of times, beneath the surface of conflict and discontent, a creative force was surging. Youthful. Rebellious. Brave. This was a city that could not be suppressed for long, and the last decade has seen Berlin burst onto the tourist map as a must-visit destination for anyone, from young hipsters to culture-vultures and history buffs. It is a city that really does have it all.

The Weinmeister Hotel is situated in the Mitte district, a district which has seen itself torn down and reinvented over the years. It was the place from which Berlin started life in the 12th century and for many years was the political and cultural centre of the city until the building of the Wall rendered it insignificant. After the reunification however it experienced a renaissance, becoming known as an artistic district. Now it is the city’s tourist centre and as you stroll through the bustling streets, past trendy boutiques and restaurants, there’s little evidence of the hardship this district has endured. Only the historical landmarks serve as a reminder that life in this part of Berlin was not always as fun and carefree.

Just as the past and present of the district is a contrast, the Weinmeister also plays with the idea of contrasts. There’s a masculine, almost stark feel to the décor, which is cleverly contrasted with plush soft furnishings, and a real emphasis on comfort and relaxation. It’s serious, but at the same time playful, just like Berlin. While it may have had a brutal past, now the sense of freedom in the air is almost tangible and Berlin has forged ahead to become a bright, thriving, cultural and creative centre, where glamour and grit come together and everyone is welcome to come and play.
