Lebua at State Tower ***** was voted Condé Nast’s Number One Hotel in Thailand, and it’s easy to see why. What with its incredible facilities, world-class cuisine, and fabulous views, this hotel is award-winning on nearly all fronts; its only competition is itself!

Best after-dinner drinks – and the nominees are… The Sky Bar for its prize view and chic feel… Café Mozu for fabulous freshly-squeezed tropical juices, sipped poolside… and Distil Bar for its fantastic cocktails. And the winner is…Distil Bar! While the Sky Bar’s view is stunning, it is the Distil Bar that rapidly became the most chic and sought-out cocktail bar of Bangkok, thanks to the creative genius of its mixologists. Here are “aged cocktails” made from spirits matured in French oak barrels, “ice cocktails” using molecular chemistry instead of ice to cool your drink, and even an excellent oyster bar.

Most stunning view – a closely-fought competition between the stunning view of the Chao Phraya River to be enjoyed in the privacy of your own Superior Suite, or the panorama offered from the Sky Bar, with the latter just winning out. The stylish bar is one of the highest in the world, perched on a precipice hanging 820 feet over the twinkling night lights of Bangkok. Pure magic.

Best design feature – so many tantalising scenes to choose from, all adding their exquisite touch to the overall ambience at Lebua at State Tower *****. Walking along the under-lit walkway to the open-air Breeze bar is a red-carpet experience like no other. Then again, the round glowing bar at the Sky Bar fading from pink to blue is truly a sight to behold. The winner, however, has to be the Stateroom, with its 360° views through floor-to-ceiling windows under a golden dome, rendering any function unforgettable.
