I’ve always been amazed at how much Barcelona varies depending on the barrio you go to; the Gothic Quarter has it’s secret plazas and winding lanes, Barceloneta has the modern beach vibe and Gràcia has your hipster boutiques and galleries. My favourite of them all, however, has to be Eixample. Its lush, tree lined streets and plethora of independent bars exude sophistication – not to mention its fabulous central location. Here the Ohla Eixample perfectly exemplifies all the things I love about the area, with its warmth, its stunning style, and effortless elegance.

The Ohla Eixample ***** is a boutique hotel located in the heart of the modernist Eixample district of Barcelona, situated between the Avenida Diagonal and the Rambla de Catalunya.

BY PLANE

  • Barcelona-El Prat Airport (BCN) sits just 12km / 7.5mi southwest of Barcelona city centre. The airport receives flights from many capitals and major cities across Europe, including across the UK. The airport is a main base for Vueling, and a hub for Iberia, Air Europa, Ryanair, and Norwegian Air Shuttle. Alternatively, Girona–Costa Brava Airport (GRO) is around 100km / 62mi north of Barcelona, or Reus Airport (REU) is around 100 km (62 mi) southwest of Barcelona.

    From Barcelona Airport to the hotel:
    • Bus: the Aerobus operates regularly to the city centre, taking about 25-35 minutes. Get off at Plaça Catalunya, a 15 minute walk from the hotel (up Rambla de Catalunya and left onto Carrer de Corsega).
    • Train: trains operate every 30 minutes to the city centre from Terminal 2, taking around 25 minutes. If planning to use public transport during the stay, buy a "T-Casual" ticket, valid for 10 journeys on zone 1 buses and metro, and the airport train. Get off at Passeig de Gracia, 10 minutes' walk from the hotel (or get off at Barcelona Sants and switch for metro line 5 to Diagonal, a 2 minute walk from the hotel).
    • Taxi: taxis are found outside all the main terminal exits and operate 24-hours. It should take about 20-30 minutes to reach the city centre, depending on traffic.
