Less than an hour from the international airport, only a half-hour from the city of Agadir (and the golf courses) and merely ten minutes from Taghazout, Paradis Plage Surf Yoga & Spa Resort is ideal for surf fans and those in search of intense relaxation. The resort offers a fusion of surf and yoga, and luckily for us, my companion is into surfing and I'm dying to get stuck into the yoga!
First though, we are taken to our huge bedroom complete with stunning view of the ocean on one side, and of the flowery gardens on the other; there is even a large furnished terrace perfect for chilling out in private. Beige and blue, for the sand and the ocean, are the main colours of the room; which is decorated predominately with wood with, various artefacts and paintings give a homey feel. Once installed, we go and have a dip in the beautiful swimming pool and then doze off in the soft sunlight. Aaah, the joys of farniente...
Surrounded by Morocco’s best surf spots, the site of Paradis Plage Surf Yoga & Spa Resort is the ideal destination for quality waves all year round. The resort offers surf sessions with the famous Talik Wahib, champion of several surfing contests. At the edge of a 10 kilometre long sandy beach, with waves going from 1 to 4 meters, every surfer will find his ideal surfing conditions. It would seem my companion is in heaven, with exceptional quality Rip Curl equipment, it's been ages since he surfed on waves as high as these; I on the other hand, am happy to paddle around and body board.
Now it’s time for me to get stuck into the mixture of Hatha, Vinyasa and Yin Yoga taught by the teacher, Nico Shanti, who lives in the resort. What a joy it is to practice yoga on a dune overlooking the sea, with the soft sand under our feet and the warmth of the sun over our heads. Afterward, the spa is an open invitation to a sensual journey, proposing massages using organic products from Morocco’s terroir: seaweed, citrus fruit, argan oil, aromatic plants and flowers...
How long it is since we last ate a great tagine? To get immersed in the Berber atmosphere, we are taken to "La Khaima" a nomad tent on the beach. The food is exceptional, made with organic products from a local farm. There is also a fishing village nearby and freshly caught fish are brought every morning by old-fashioned fishing boats. The breakfast is truly delicious, with vitamins galore; you can have muesli, pomegranates, prickly pears and the especially good Moroccan pancakes, with honey produced in hives from the region.
Later in the evening we lie down in the Lounge Bar in front of the big outdoor cinema screen, although tonight there is nothing showing and instead we enjoy our cocktails and other relishes to the gentle lapping of the waves. Such tranquil scenery! Paradis Plage is simply idyllic for those who love sports as well as for those who love to spend a relaxing holiday in a unique and special setting. The staff here will do everything they can to make your wishes and desires come true, and we simply cannot wait to go back!
