My boyfriend and I are perhaps not as adventurous as we might like to think. Travelling around the world and seeing some of the world’s greatest natural wonders is delightful, of course, but every so often a time comes when we both crave one thing: the Spanish sun. And lots of it, too. Thankfully the blissful, year-round heat of the VIK Suite Hotel Risco del Gato **** was there to welcome us with open arms, taking pride of place on the glorious Sotavento Beach.
The white washed, domed villas that made up the cluster of suites seemed to blend in effortlessly with the landscape, and as soon as we laid eyes on it we knew we had to explore. Spectacular views of the Mediterranean Sea and the garden awaited us from our private patio-solarium, which lead into a simple-yet-elegant interior. Another door opened onto a peaceful patch of lush garden and added to the feeling of undisturbed peace within our new abode. This was sun soaked tranquillity at its best.
Total peace and relaxation seemed to be the game here, where staff did everything in their power to make your stay as blissful as they could. If we didn’t fancy sunbathing on Sotavento Beach, we had no one but three fresh water pools available to choose from, as well as a whole host of activities ready for us to dive into. Afternoons in the Thai Spa led to cocktails on the terrace overlooking the sea, before a night under the stars in a hot tub complete with a bottle of cava. If you’re looking for a unique take on sun-soaked bliss, look no further than the VIK Suite Risco del Gato ****.
