  • The location in the heart of the medieval city, where modern life stops at the gates and a world of cobbles, crooked streets, and hotel porters transports you back in time.
  • Afternoon drinks in the tranquil leafy courtyard, far from the bustle of the streets.
  • The historic, yet trendy, design throughout, with medieval iron chandeliers casting light over tasteful modern art on the ancient stone walls.
  • Having the generous buffet breakfasts included, served up in the cosy stone-walled breakfast room.

When one thinks of medieval times, grand fortresses, intricate tapestries and wood carvings, and fabulous hearty feasts all spring to mind. Where can you find all this, yet in a setting of four-star modern luxury? In Carcassonne, of course, the heart of the most famed medieval town of France where all this history is preserved as a world-class UNESCO Heritage Site and the home of the Best Western Hôtel le Donjon ****. For a taste of feasts, history and the finer things, there's nowhere better to begin than right here.
