View all offersIn the Intendente district, which is full of independent cafes, locally sourced products and the best sea food in town, you could be forgiven for feeling that the buzzing atmosphere amongst ancient artefacts, street art and trendy bars was like something out of a film director’s imagination. But don’t doubt it; this is the real deal.
The 1908 Lisboa Hotel takes its cue from its surroundings, and embraces modern art, gorgeous art deco architecture and a love of every aspect of Lisbon’s quirky character. The rooms follow a minimalist, contemporary design that allow every inch of the space to be filled with light, as well as generous splashes of colour. The hotel even boasts its own permanent art gallery which features pieces from a range of contemporary Portuguese artists, giving you the feeling that you really are at the heart of Lisbon’s thriving art culture!
The seven hills on which the city is built mean that as soon as you step outside the hotel, you have a fabulous choice of vantage points from which to survey the city spread before you, or to catch an immortal picture of the dramatic Castelo de São Jorge outlined against blue skies. Having trouble deciding what to explore first? The staff are here to help – their refreshing hotel concept (which is, incidentally, to be more than just a hotel) means staff are always delighted to suggest their own favourite spots, must-see sights, or even just ask how your day was.
Tempting as it is to get lost in Lisbon’s streets, don’t forget to head back to the hotel at dinner time; the lively Infame Restaurante serves glorious food with a smile and a sense of humour. Finally, when you’ve had your fill of Portuguese cuisine and ample amounts of port, retire to your irresistibly comfortable room to dream sweetly of another day of bohemian bliss at the 1908 Lisboa Hotel…
