Basking in minimalistic elegance, the Sandton Hôtel Domaine Cocagne**** enjoys a privileged position in the middle of the beautiful French Riviera countryside where verdant hills give way to glistening turquoise waters. Encircled by five-acres of pines, palms and olives groves the luxurious, tranquil retreat flaunts a no-nonsense, chic style.
Our day would commence with melodies of birds chirping outside our window. Climbing out of a bed as comfortable as a cloud and throwing open the curtains, soft sunlight soaked our spacious Deluxe Room. We paused sipping coffee on our private terrace taking a moment to delight in the tranquillity and breath-taking views whilst planning the day ahead.
First on the agenda was indulging in the copious, complimentary breakfast (courtesy of VeryChic) on the peaceful hotel’s terrace, overlooking the swimming pool and leafy landscape sprawling out beneath us. After gorging on delicious fresh produce, a trip to the outdoor gym was a must!
We then made the most of the Sandton Hôtel Domaine Cocagne****’s Fiat 500 rental service and drove the short distance into Nice, feeling très chic in our little car. Strolling the famous promenade flanked by swaying palm trees, we soaked in the sights and magnetic atmosphere. Upon returning to our serene oasis we took a dip in the heated pool and enjoyed the breath-taking views, prior to a competitive game of Pétanque on the Pétanque court.
With rumbling tummies, we were treated to a unique gastronomic experience in Sandton Hôtel Domaine Cocagne****’s restaurant, where Chef Thijs Gelaude and his professional team serve the best of Mediterranean delights. The contemporary cuisine is inspired by the finest products of the French Riviera and combined with influences from other gastronomical cultures; served on the stunning terrace flaunting a peaceful ambience and exquisite views, the hotel also boasts exciting themed menus such as a weekly barbecue and tapas night. Toasting our wonderful holiday, enwrapped in tranquillity, we bickered over who was better at Pétanque… me obviously!
