Mercure Lille Centre Grand Place ★★★★

Refined luxury in the heart of the iconic and dynamic city of Lille.

By Maria Nelligan, VeryChic correspondent
A city previously overlooked as a stop on the Eurostar journey to Paris, Lille has since become an incredibly popular destination to frequent largely thanks to the city's greater cultural apprecation, and rejuvenation. In fact, in 2004 it was granted the prestigious title of ‘European Capital of Culture’ which is a truly remarkable achievement for any city, and a sign of a city in the ascendancy. If that isn’t enough of a reason for you to experience the wondrous city for yourself, perhaps the prospect of staying in the idyllic Mercure Lille Centre Grand Place will be enough to entice you…

France

Mercure Lille Centre Grand Place **** hotel finds itself in the heart of the action of all there is to do in Lille, just a 3 minute walk away from the Général de Gaulle Square and only 1 minute from the Lille Opera House.

BY PLANE

  • Lille Airport (LIL) is situated around 7 km / 4 mi south-southeast of Lille centre and around 11.6 km / 7.2 mi (15 minutes') drive from the hotel. It receives some seasonal international flights, however, mostly regular flights from elsewhere in France, so a changeover in for example Lyon might be necessary.

The closest internationally well-served airport is Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport (CDG) just northeast of Paris, around 200 km / 125 mi south of Lille.

TO THE HOTEL

  • From Lille Airport:

    • Bus: the Navette Aéroport shuttle bus operates to/from the city centre (the Euralille shopping centre) and takes about 20 minutes.

    • Taxi: a taxi from the airport to the hotel takes about 15 minutes.

From Paris-Charles de Gaulle Airport: take the TGV service to Lille taking around 50 minutes. Once in Lille it is a 10 minute walk or short taxi ride to the the hotel.

BY TRAIN

  • Gare de Lille-Europe is primarily used for high-speed and long-distance train services and is an important intersection between London, Brussels, and Paris. It is therefore possible to reach Lille by train rapidly from a number of neighbouring countries (the journey from London for example, lasts around 1 hour & 30 minutes).

Gare de Lille-Flandres is the main station in Lille, and also receives both high-speed TGV and regular train services.
