Crowne Plaza Porto ★★★★★

Classic five-star quality and comfort in Porto.

By Esme Fox, VeryChic correspondent
Crumbling pastel coloured buildings fringe shady plazas, tiny cobblestone alleyways wind their way up the hillside, magnificent baroque churches reach their way to the sky and traditional old rabelo port wine boats float along the Douro River – this is the northern Portuguese city of Porto. The city’s motto “Mui Nobre, Sempre Leal e Invicta, Cidade do Porto”, which translates as “Very Noble, Always Faithful and Invincible, City of Porto”, aptly describes this proud and culturally diverse city. If you’re after five-star luxury in such a city, the Crowne Plaza Porto is an ideal choice.

HOW TO GET FROM THE AIRPORT TO THE HOTEL

  • - By taxi: taxis are available 24 hours a day from outside the Arrival hall. They take around 20 to 30 minutes to get to the city centre, and should cost between 15 and 20 euros (although a 20% surcharge is payable on weekends, public holidays and between 9 pm and 6 am).

    - By metro: quite possibly the fastest, most convenient and cheapest way of getting to the hotel. The airport is connected to the city centre via line E (violet) of the metro system; get off at Francos. From here it is a 10 minute walk; cross the train tracks, and walk straight down Rua Tenente Valadim, take a right at Avenida da Boavista and continue on to the hotel.
