In the heady, early days of his 1838 Mallorca holiday, Frédéric Chopin wrote, ‘A sky like turquoise, a sea like lapis lazuli, mountains like emerald, air like heaven.’ Some elements of this magical Spanish island have changed, but these essentials remain. They are captured in their purest form, and elevated to new heights in the middle of the island’s western mountains, where the Hotel Continental Valldemossa nestles in simple beauty, surrounded by luxurious gardens and with the same views over the unchanging Mediterranean so admired by the great composer.
