Good things come to those who wait. This year it was finally my turn to plan the family holiday. It didn’t take long to settle on the sun-soaked Costa Brava. After mornings filled with rounds of golf and luxuriating in the spa, we’d sunbathe on idyllic beaches before making the most of local cuisine and wine. With the help of VeryChic, we booked into the Hotel Empordà Golf Resort. Suffice to say it was such a success that I’ll be in charge again next year…

  • Stroll through the little streets of Begur (just 15km from the hotel), lined with elegant 18th-century houses and picturesque fishermen’s cottages. While here you should try the refined and creative menu on offer at Turandot.

BY PLANE

  • Girona–Costa Brava Airport (GRO) sits about 12.5 km / 7.8 mi south of Girona city, about 49km / 30mi / 50 minutes' drive from the hotel. It welcomes some regular flights, and even more seasonally, from a number of cities across Europe, including from the UK (in particular by low-cost airlines such as Ryanair).

    Alternatively, the very well-served Barcelona-El Prat Airport (BCN) is located about 150km / 93mi / 1 hour and 50 minutes' drive to the south. It receives flights from major cities all across Europe, including from the UK.
