View all offersAgainst a backdrop of lush green pine-covered cliffs, the protected bay and village of Tamariu is an idyllic location to visit. The warm and welcoming Hotel Hostal Es Niu is the perfect place to stay whilst here, with its modern décor with a rustic twist, and ideally located just 300m from the local beach. You'll soon settle into your comfortable, bright and airy room, which comes well-equipped for your stay and be raring to go and explore the surrounding area.
Besides the local beach, it's just 400m from the pretty little rocky Aigua Dolça Cove, and the captivating village boasts many lovely restaurants and cafes serving up delicious local Catalan cuisine. The hotel takes its name, in fact, after an old Palafrugell dish that fisherman often ate in their fishing huts. Originally made with cod, boiled egg and potato, it's been added to over the years to include cuttlefish and other ingredients too – so that's a must try – alongside fresh local fish dishes accompanied by a delicious glass of local wine.
If you are wondering how the village got its name - it's taken from the pretty tamarind trees lining the seafront promenade. The region offers a mix of lush vegetation and rocky wild cliffs, and you can make the most of it by hiking along the scenic, coastal Camino de Ronda and exploring its hidden coves and secluded beaches as you gaze out at the dazzling Mediterranean Sea.
If more adrenaline-fuelled activities are your thing, then why not explore the incredible marine life, underwater caves and old shipwrecks with a dive trip, or have a go at kayaking, paddle boarding, or windsurfing?
It won't take long to fall in love with this little stretch of paradise - with the region's authentic charm and relaxed Mediterranean atmosphere, you'll never want to leave.
