Nestled in the rolling green hills of the Dordogne Valley, Domaine de Monrecour offers a tranquil escape that blends history with luxury. Originally built by the lords of Beynac as a more comfortable residence than their nearby fortress, this historic castle has undergone many transformations over the centuries. Fully renovated in 2016, it now stands as a modern, elegant hotel while retaining its timeless charm.
The estate is ideally located, providing the feeling of being away from it all while still close to the mediaeval city of Sarlat and several picturesque towns in the region. With 37 spacious rooms spread across the château, outbuildings, and charming cottages, the hotel combines history with contemporary comfort. Rooms feature modern amenities such as air conditioning, Italian showers, plush robes and slippers, and some boast stunning views of the Dordogne Valley, the Château de Beynac, and Château des Milandes.
The beautiful grounds of Domaine de Monrecour are perfect for relaxation, featuring two heated outdoor pools—one for adults and one for children—surrounded by lush gardens. The staff is dedicated to providing exceptional service, adding to the boutique hotel feel of the estate.
La Table de Monrecour, the estate’s restaurant, is a highlight of the property. With set menus focused on fresh, local ingredients, it offers an exceptional culinary experience, whether dining indoors in the warm, inviting atmosphere or on the terrace in the garden. The carefully curated wine cellar emphasises environmentally friendly vineyards, ensuring both great quality and a story in every bottle.
Domaine de Monrecour is a perfect blend of history, luxury, and modern comfort, making it an unforgettable destination in the Dordogne.
