View all offersHaving been endlessly drawn, filmed, written about and sung about, there's not much I can say about Paris’ beauty, sophistication, brilliant cuisine and artistic flair that you haven't heard before – yet visiting this city never gets old! Alongside classics such as the Musée D'Orsay, the Louvre or the Eiffel Tower, new events and exhibitions, restaurants, bars, hotels and shops pop up every day. And with a stay at the stylish, five-star Le Dokhan's, I find myself bursting with excitement again.
Le Dokhan's is set in a Belle Epoque building dating from 1910, found just a short walk north of the Trocadero and Eiffel Tower. Being equidistant from the Trocadero, Boissière and Victor Hugo metro stations it is very conveniently placed. Upon entering this boutique hotel, we were met with neo-classical furnishings and acclaimed works of Picasso and Matisse on the walls. The neo-classical theme runs throughout the hotel, and overall the atmosphere is cosy with an irresistible charm.
We were taken upstairs in the hotel’s unique, vintage Louis Vuitton lift, to our Deluxe Room. With space to spread out in, a double bed, en-suite and separate sitting area, it was a true haven to retreat to after a long day. As with the rest of the hotel, designer Frédéric Méchiche has created rooms with real personality; striped and floral designer fabrics cover the bedding and walls, and ornate, wooden chairs create the living space. Meanwhile in the bathroom we were met with smooth black and white Carrara marble.
Once we were well rested, it was downstairs for breakfast. The hotel's Champagne bar, also serves breakfast, lunch and afternoon tea, and was the perfect setting for our morning coffee, croissant and pain au chocolat. With its deep-brown wooden panelling, soft green upholstered chairs and shine of metal trays and delicate glasses, the bar oozed opulence and finesse. We decided to return later to indulge some more Champagne recommended by the sommelier; the bar boasts one of Paris’ most extensive Champagne menus with around 240 to choose from!
Outside Paris was waiting for us, whether it was its winding avenues or wide open streets, the city was crying out to be explored. The weekend came and went and we savoured every moment. At the end of it all we only had one thought... we’ll have to come back for more!
