I don’t know what came over me. As I was walking down the street a few months ago, a familiar aroma wafted towards me – a mix of steamed mussels, garlic and a hint of celery– Moules-Frites! When we came here as a family for our annual trip to the Lille flea market, we stayed with cousins whose apartment looked out on the magnificent Minim Monastery, already a hotel at the time. Now I know what Proust was talking about! A few phone calls and a lot of e-mails later, here we are - settling into our rooms at the Couvent des Minimes Alliance Hotel ****, the perfect place for our seminar and just in time for the flea market!

The Alliance - Couvent des Minimes **** hotel is situated on the banks of the Canal de la Deule, just metres from the Parc de la Citadelle (Vauban) and a ten minute walk from the centre of Lille.

BY PLANE

  • Lille Airport (LIL) is situated around 7 km / 4 mi south-southeast of Lille centre.

    The airport receives a few seasonal and direct international flights with companies such as EasyJet, Ryanair and Vueling, along with regular direct flights from other large cities in France with companies such as Air France, Easyjet and Ryanair.

    The closest internationally well served airport is Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport (CDG), located around 25 km / 16 mi to the northeast of central Paris, and around 200 km / 125 mi south of Lille and the hotel.

    From the airport to the hotel:

    From Lille Airport: taxis in Lille are reasonably priced, although as it is a small airport you may need to reserve a taxi in advance if you arrive late. Otherwise, take the Navette shuttle bus to the city centre (tickets cost 8€ one way). It will drop you in front of the Euralille shopping centre, between the Lille Flandres and Lille Europe train stations. From there it is a 15 minute walk or short taxi ride to the hotel.

    From Paris-Charles de Gaulle Airport: take the TGV service to Lille taking around 50 minutes. Once in Lille it is a 15 minute walk or short taxi ride to the the hotel.


TRAIN

  • The Gare de Lille Flandres and Gare de Lille Europe train stations are located in the centre of Lille, both just under a 10 minute drive from the hotel. From the UK is it possible to book via Eurostar, otherwise Thalys or TGV operate from other neighbouring counties and elsewhere in France. Most international trains arrive at Lille Europe station.
