View all offersDuring the golden era, artists, writers, musicians and dancers would come to the historic Monmartre venue to perform, share ideas or simply enjoy the atmosphere. Celebrated names such as Pablo Picasso, Claude Debussy and Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec were regular patrons at the cabaret and helped to cement its famed status. Today, amongst the equally famous places such as the Moulin Rouge and the Sacré Coeur, you’ll find that a unique four-star design hotel has taken the place of the cabaret, while keeping the name and spirit of the celebrated institution alive.
Rooms are contemporary, full of clean lines and neutral tones. Each floor pays homage to a famous writer or poet, with quirky figures on the bedside lamps and walls. Le Chat Noir *** doesn’t sacrifice luxurious comfort though: providing plush soft bedding and flat screen TVs. The bathrooms are large and spacious, featuring full tubs, wide mirrors and oversized sinks.
A breakfast buffet is served each morning in the glamorous dining room and includes a lavish spread of everything from fruit, teas and hot chocolates to pancakes, waffles, eggs, pastries and of course – fresh baguette.
Just steps outside you’ll find yourself in the historic Montmatre district with the gleaming white pearl of the Sacré Coeur church sitting atop the hill. The city’s other famed cabaret venue – the renowned Moulin Rouge with its classic red windmill sails, is a mere fifty metres away. Here, you will be able to experience what the nineteenth-century Parisian cabaret was all about, can-can girls and all.
From here, walk up the hill, past the cobbled squares packed with artists and caricaturists towards the church itself. It’s the perfect area to get lost in and explore one of the city’s most charming areas, where many renowned artists and writers from the last two centuries lived.
With its distinguished status, sleek interiors, large rooms and quirky extras, this is definitely the Parisian address you’ll want for your chic escape.
