Alentejo Marmòris Hotel & Spa ★★★★★

Heavenly halls of marble in the wild open spaces of the Alentejo.

When we set off on our tour of Portugal, we knew there was more to it than Lisbon and the Algarve, but we hadn’t quite realised how much! The Alentejo region stretches from the south bank of the Tagus down to the Algarve, from the Atlantic coast to the Spanish border. The quiet roads and rolling countryside are punctuated by picturesque villages, vineyards and cork trees. One of the biggest delights, however, is the quaint town of Vila Viçosa with its magnificent Ducal Palace. It is here that the gorgeous five-star Alentejo Marmoris Hotel & Spa, an olive mill-converted hotel with a natural marble-cave spa, offers a charming and unique place to rest and rejuvenate.
