Built in the 13th and 15th centuries, the Château de Castel Novel **** is a hotel that has been managed by a talented hotelier family for three generations. It was formerly owned by journalist and politician Henri de Jouvenel, the husband of Colette, who featured Castel Novel in her celebrated novels. These days, you write the story. It’s up to you to compose your days around a game of tennis, a gourmet feast, a ramble in the woods or an afternoon by the pool. Truly novelistic scenes.

France

The Château de Castel Novel **** is situated in the heart of a 40 hectare estate, only 10 minutes from the beautiful town of Brive-La-Gaillarde.

BY PLANE

  • The closest airport to the hotel is Brive-Dordogne Valley Airport, also known as Brive Souillac (BVE). The airport receives regular flights from Paris-Orly and Porto and seasonal flights from London-Stansted and Ajaccio.

Alternatively, Bordeaux-Merignac Airport (BOD), which sits around 209 km / 130 mi (around 2 hours' drive) from the hotel, is an international airport which is fairly well-served by flights from elsewhere in France along with a number of capitals cities and other large cities across Europe.

HOW TO GET FROM THE AIRPORT TO THE HOTEL

  • From Bordeaux airport: the 30'Direct shuttle bus runs from outside Hall B at the airport directly to Bordeaux Saint-Jean station in 30 minutes. From here, take a train to Perigueux, from where you can take a train to Brive la Gaillarde. It is then a 15 minute taxi ride to the hotel. The journey should take just under 4 hours in total.

Alternatively, you can rent a car from either airport to get to the hotel.

BY TRAIN

  • Most trains arriving internationally from various countries across Europe like the UK, Netherlands or Germany will arrive at either Paris Gare du Nord or Paris de l’Est. From either station, take the metro line 5 towards Place d'Italie and get off at Gare d'Austerlitz. From Paris Austerlitz station, trains run directly to Brive La Gaillarde in around 4 hours 30 minutes. It is then a 15 minute drive to the hotel.
